Obituary for Forrest J. Herreid

Forrest J. Herreid, 59, of Warren, died Saturday, September 14, at the Westerly Rhode Island Hospital.

Born in Madison, Wisconsin and raised in Concord, Massachusetts, Forrest was the oldest of the five children of Geraldine Roberts Herreid of Warren and the late Peder H. Herreid. Forrest lived in Wisconsin before moving to Rhode Island last year.

Forrest was a graduate of Ramey High School in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico and Curry College in Milton, Massachusetts. Forrest loved to work. During his life, he enjoyed a variety of work situations: sales in the furniture industry, purchasing agent at an Alaskan fish processing plant, right-hand man at his father’s accounting franchise, and owner of a small coffee shop. Forrest also enjoyed many hobbies including photography, woodworking, preparing and drinking coffee, listening to jazz and instrumental music, and fishing and camping in the great outdoors.

Besides his mother he leaves two brothers, Matthew Herreid of Providence and Christopher Herreid of North Yarmouth, Maine, two sisters, Julaine Rosner of Palo Alto, California and LeeAnn Herreid of Warren, as well as eight nephews and nieces. All will remember Forrest’s cheerfulness in the face of adversity, his determination, and his persistence.

Funeral services and the scattering of ashes will be held on September 28 at 3 pm at the Swan Point Cemetery Chapel in Providence. All are welcome to attend. Contributions in Forrest’s name may be given to the Epilepsy Foundation of America and/or the Brain Injury Association of Rhode Island.
