Name: Thomas R. Carbone Dates: Birth date: June 14, 1948 Death date: February 04, 2010 Obituary: Thomas R. Carbone, 61, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2010. He was the husband of Louise A. (Fontaine) Carbone for 35 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Gino and Rosella (Woodlock) Carbone. After graduating from Bryant College, for most of his life, Tom was a sales representative for numerous companies including Browns Dairy, AT&T, and Borden Foods where he was named salesman of the year. After retiring in 1997, he worked part time for AAA.
Tom was a free lance columnist for the Providence Journal with his West Bay Memories column and his contributions to the Rhode Island Century series. He also wrote for the Warwick Beacon with his Warwick’s Villages column. He was a lifetime member of the Pawtuxet Athletic Club where he served as Welfare Chairman. His investigative style earned him the nickname ‘Scoop”.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Stephen Carbone of Cranston. He was the brother of the late Anthony and Gene Carbone.
His funeral will be Monday at 10 AM from the Frank P. Trainor & Sons Funeral Home, 982 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Timothy’s Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick at 11 AM. Calling Hour Sunday 1-5 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory to Re-Focus Inc., an agency that supports adults with disabilities, 45 Greeley St., Providence, RI 02904 will be appreciated. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
